Thank you, everyone, for subscribing to this newsletter and motivating me to push myself to stay updated in Data & AI. The goal of this newsletter is to present AI news and updates in simple terms.
Anthropic open-sources its model thought tracing tools
Anthropic just open-sourced its circuit tracing tools that let you peek inside how AI models “think.” Using interactive graphs on Neuronpedia, you can trace reasoning paths, tweak inputs, and see what neurons light up. It’s like giving AI an MRI. These tools help make huge language models less of a black box and they even work on smaller models like Google’s Gemma-2-2B (yes, you can try it on Google Colab!).
CEO Dario Amodei says this kind of interpretability is key to AI safety, because if we can’t understand AI’s logic, how can we trust it?
Netflix’s co-founder joins Anthropic’s board
Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings just joined Anthropic’s board of directors. Yep, the guy who turned Netflix into a global giant is now helping shape the future of AI. He was appointed by Anthropic’s unique Long-Term Benefit Trust, which focuses on AI that benefits humanity, not just profits.
With decades of experience scaling tech companies (Netflix, Meta, Microsoft), plus his deep work in philanthropy and AI ethics, Hastings is a perfect fit. He joins just as Anthropic launched its Claude 4 models, and his presence signals that they’re serious about growing responsibly and challenging big names like OpenAI and Google.
Perplexity launched Perplexity Labs
Perplexity just dropped Perplexity Labs, a new Pro-only tool that lets you create reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, and research summaries in minutes. You can describe what you need in plain English, and it builds everything, from code to charts to full research docs. Want a spreadsheet with live data? Done. A dashboard with interactive graphs? Easy. Need deep research in 10 minutes? It’ll dig through the web, analyze info, and package it all up.
Think of it as ChatGPT meets Notion meets Google Sheets with automation built in. Perplexity isn’t just chasing Google Search anymore, it’s aiming to replace half your workflow.
